When the mercury starts to rise outdoors, you rely on your air conditioner to keep your residence cool. Your AC may be on, but the air blowing from your vents appears too hot.

Check the fan setting. If it reads “on,” the fan will run even when the AC compressor isn’t going. This is okay, but your electricity expenses will increase if the fan is on all the time. Switch the setting to “auto,” and the blower will only operate when the compressor is on. This also means the air issuing from the vents will consistently appear cool.
The HVAC air filter catches airborne particles that can ruin your heating and cooling units. If it ends up being too blocked, it can reduce airflow. This reduces how much warm air moves over the indoor evaporator coil. If the refrigerant moving through the coil becomes too chilled, it freezes, stopping the cooling cycle from happening. To avoid this, replace the filter each month or as suggested by the manufacturer.
Refrigerant is critical for air conditioning. It shifts from a low-pressure gas to a high-pressure liquid as it moves between the indoor evaporator coil and outdoor condensing unit. If refrigerant is leaking, your air conditioner will cool badly and may not generate sufficient chilled air. It may also result in a frozen evaporator coil, which as we mentioned before, halts the cooling cycle altogether. You’ll need assistance from an HVAC tech, like one from Rolf Griffin Service Experts, to repair any refrigerant issues.
The outdoor part of your AC system is called a condenser. This is basically a giant heat sink that removes muggy air from your residence. If the metal fins are clogged with dirt, the condenser can’t run well. Rinse down the system to remove debris that accumulates and cut back grass to make sure the condenser isn’t blocked.
While you’re checking the condenser, ensure the large fan at the top of the system is going. If the fan motor has gone bad, the condensing unit can’t break up heat appropriately, and your air conditioner could start sending hot air into your residence.
Pay attention to the sound of the compressor running within the condensing unit also. This is what drives your air conditioner, as the part lowers the temperature of the refrigerant. Then, the refrigerant can capture more warmth when it moves back into your residence. If the compressor goes out, you’ll probably need to get a new system and book air conditioning installation.
