What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Rolf Griffin Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Fort Wayne always writes about how our team of experts are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it actually mean?

NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization is owned, operated, developed, and supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified through NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment without being certified by NATE.

It’s important to Rolf Griffin Service Experts that our team is NATE-certified to make sure we are sending the most qualified and professional technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these standards, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Rolf Griffin Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only certain areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning

  • Heat Pumps
