We are getting through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, blocking air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
